Bukit Kayu Hitam CheckpointBukit Kayu Hitam Checkpoint (11 January, 2013)

You can enter Malaysia from Thailand by road at five entry points. From West to East, these are Wang Kelian in Perlis, Padang Besar in Perlis, Bukit Kayu Hitam in Kedah, Pengkalan Hulu in Perak and Rantau Panjong in Kelantan.

It is possible to drive your own vehicle or a car rented in Thailand into Malaysia. If you are doing the latter, please inform the car rental agency of your intentions, and get all the necessary paperwork in place before you begin your journey.

Of the five aforementioned entry points, the main one is Bukit Kayu Hitam, which connect's Thailand's Route 4 in Dannok to Malaysia's North South Expressway, the main expressway that runs north-south through Peninsular Malaysia.
