Immigration Department (Jabatan Imigresen), George Town (12 August 2006)


The Penang Immigration Department Building (GPS: 5.41899, 100.34366) or Bangunan Jabatan Immigresen is an impressive double storey building which was built in 1890. It is located within the compound of the Central Police Station, and was originally intended to house the administrative office of the police force.

The building has a porte cochere facing north. The walls of the groundfloor is done in imitation rustication with keystoning at the arches. The top of the building features moulded cornice underlining a balustered parapet.

Getting there

The Immigration Department building is located along Beach Street. The nearest bus stop, on Beach Street, is served by the Rapid Penang CAT.
