Kedai Kopi New Cathay (GPS: 5.43245, 100.30954) is a coffee shop in Pulau Tikus, Penang. The coffee shop is located at the junction of Burmah Road with Lorongt Kuching.
Kedai Kopi New Cathay is particularly busy in the morning and at lunch. It winds down after lunch. Some stalls began to clean up even before lunch time starts, so it is really a breakfast coffee shop. Among the items available include apom, char koay teow, chicken rice, curry mee, fried fish meat bee hoon, fried rice, Hokkien char, Jawa mee, koay chiap, pancake, pan mee, popiah, roti babi, wan tan mee, Western food and yee fu mee. There is also a van selling asam parked at the curb. I was recommended to this coffee shop by someone on Facebook who visited by Penang Hawker Food group. I tried the roti babi, which I quite like.

It has been a while since we visited Kedai Kopi New Cathay, so we decided to go there for breakfast. By the time we arrived, it was already crowded with customers. I like this coffee shop, because it has a lot of stalls. On this visit, we ordered Koay Kak, Roti Babi, Koay Chiap and Apom. We like everything.

Getting there
Kedai Kopi New Cathay is diagonally across the street from the Church of the Immaculate Conception. The nearest bus stop is in front of Burmah Road. It is served by Rapid Penang bus 101, 102, 104 and 304. As Burmah Road is (since 2013) a one way street with traffic heading from west to east, all buses heads in the direction of George Town. If you are coming from George Town, you have to take the bus to Kelawei Road and then walk across to Burmah Road, a distance of about 5-10 minutes.
