Balik Pulau Lower District Syariah Court (9 April 2011)


Balik Pulau Lower District Syariah Court, or Mahkamah Rendah Syariah Daerah, is a court complex presently under construction (as of April 2011) along Jalan Balik Pulau. When it opens, it will hear Syariah cases involving Muslims in the Balik Pulau and Southwest District of Penang Island.

The Balik Pulau Lower District Syariah Court is a four-storey building. Its design reflects Islamic motifs such as the geometric filigree in the arched windows. The building has a dome at the porch and another at the main foyer. The domes are ochre and topped with a spire.

Getting there

The nearest bus stop is in front of the Balik Pulau Branch Library, about 40 meters away. It is served by Rapid Penang bus 401, 401E and 502.
