Longest Jalur Gemilang Mural, Tanjung BungahLongest Jalur Gemilang Mural, Tanjung Bungah (13 April 2016)

The Longest Jalur Gemilang Mural (GPS: 5.46486, 100.29586) in Malaysia adorns the retaining wall along Jalan Tanjung Bungah, Penang. It was completed on 7 September, 2003 by the Young Muslim Sports Club. The mural measures 541 meters long, and is 3.3 meters in height.

After years of weathering the elements, the mural was given a fresh coat of paint in conjunction with the 2015 Merdeka Day celebration. Some 300 members of the Young Muslim Sports Club as well as other associations and members of the public volunteered in repainting the mural. They started work at 10:30am on 30 August, 2015, and completed the touch up some six hours later. There was a total of 300 volunteers which were split up into 15 groups of 20 persons each. The paint was sponsored by Colourland Paints. Together with brushes, the cost of the touching up exercise was RM50,000. The Chief Minister of Penang also paid a visit to the touching up, and donated RM12,000 to the project.
