Teluk Air Tawar (GPS: 5.47822, 100.38339) is a coastal suburb of Butterworth in Seberang Perai Utara. Its name means "fresh water bay". It is a quiet seaside suburb with excellent views of George Town across the channel. The main road through the area is also called Jalan Teluk Air Tawar.
Teluk Air Tawar was the site of the Butterworth Royal Air Force Base. As such, there is a bit of noise pollution here caused by the taking off and landing of fighter jets. There has been some residential development such as Taman Seri Senangan with semi-detached bungalows for those who want the land area for a price unobtainable elsewhere in Penang.
Other housing estates in Teluk Air Tawar includes Taman Perwira, Taman Robina, Taman Telok Molek, Taman Pahlawan and Taman Aman Bayu. The post code here is 13050 Butterworth.
