Queens Island, Pulau Jerejak (29 November 2009)
Queens Island is a proposed development of Pulau Jerejak, Penang. The developer is Tropical Island Resort Sdn Bhd. This project will cover 80 acres of Pulau Jerejak, and is to be developed into a world class resort and upscale residences. Tropical Island Resort Sdn Bhd is a joint venture between Penang Development Corporation and Ideal Property Group. The Queens Island project5 comprises the following components:
- Phase 1: a 10-storey hotel with 350 rooms and a 4-storey clubhouse
- Phase 2: 3 blocks of 10-storey serviced residences (450 units) and shop offices (60 units)
- Phase 3: 2 blocks of 10-storey condominium (556 units) and 4-storey villas (44 units)
- Phase 4: 10-storey serviced residences (180 units)
As part of this development, a bridge will be built to connect Pulau Jerejak with Penang Island. This bridge is for pedestrians, cyclists and electric cars only.
