Sungai Ara Kopitiam (GPS: 5.31975, 100.26922) is a coffee shop in the Desaria neighbourhood of Sungai Ara, Penang. It is located on Tingkat Kenari 6. The coffee shop has a number of stalls including an economy rice stall, a Hokkien Mee stall, and a stall selling various Nyonya kuih including nasi kunyit and muah chee. A Jawa Mee stall belonging to a cousin of my wife started operating here from 1 January 2021.

For our very first lunch of the year, we had a hankering for the jawa mee sold by wife's cousin at Sungai Ara Kopitiam. So off we went there. When we arrived, we saw that the kopitiam was packed, so we bought home. The large at RM6 each. Still delicious!

My wife found out this morning that one of her cousins has opened a Jawa Mee stall at Sungai Ara Kopitiam. We decided to make a trip to give it a try. We arrived around 12:20pm, and were lucky to get one of the last bowls before the stall closed for the day. In fact, it was only the first day that they are selling at Sungai Ara Kopitiam. It is their second outlet after the first one at Eng Loh Coffee Shop on Lebuh Gereja.

I enjoyed the Jawa Mee very much. It is similar to the Jawa Mee that my wife makes, which is different from the tomato sauce based Jawa Mee. This one uses potato as the base. I ordered the big portion, which is RM6 (but was given a treat by my wife's cousin).

When I removed my facemask to enjoy the jawa mee, the owner of the coffee shop immediately recognized me. He treated me to his nasi kunyit. I was too full to have it immediately, so I brought it home.

Not only that, he also treated me to the mochi. These are sold 4 to a tray for RM5.
