Bukit Tambun (GPS: 5.2762, 100.46545) is a riverine community in Seberang Perai Selatan. It is located along the banks of Sungai Jawi.
Bukit Tambun is part of Simpang Ampat. The coastal settlement exists as a fishing village populated mostly by Chinese fishermen. There is a single main road, Jalan Bukit Tambun, which serves the village and links it to the rest of Penang. It has a jetty from where there used to be ferry services to Pulau Aman. However the ferry service has since been transferred to Batu Musang.
Because of its proximity to the sea, Bukit Tambun gets fresh seafood. As a result, a number of seafood restaurants have opened in this village, drawing customers the surrounding areas as well as from Penang Island. Congregated near the jetty, they include Restoran Jetty and Restoran Gee Seng.
Once a sleepy village, Bukit Tambun is expected to see rapid development with the construction of the Second Penang Bridge, which will connect neighbouring Batu Kawan with Batu Maung on Penang Island.
