Moonlight Bay is a beautiful stretch of coastline in Batu Ferringhi, Penang. It is located between Miami Beach to the east and Batu Ferringhi proper to the west. It can be determined by the section where Jalan Batu Ferringhi makes a sharp cornering over a ravine.

The beach at Moonlight Bay is wide with the sand between ranging in hue from white and golden. The area used to be very popular with picnickers and bathers, particularly in the 1960s and 70s, but today, as with much of Batu Ferringhi, the water now is considered not clean enough for swimming.

There are numerous rounded boulders at Moonlight Bay that gives it the "quintessential Batu Ferringhi" appearance that makes its way into Penang postcards. As with elsewhere along Batu Ferringhi, the inland area has succumbed to property development. The housing development in this area is Moonlight Bay Villas & Condo Villas By Ivory, by the same developer as Ivory Island Resort to its immediate east.

Updates on Moonlight Bay

23 October, 2014: Barely ten months after it opened, the Wet World Wild Adventure Park has closed.

25 December, 2013: The Wet World Wild Adventure Park opened at Moonlight Bay. This waterborne theme park features various floating obstacle courses. For details, click on the link to Wet World Adventure Park.

Getting to Moonlight Bay

You can reach Moonlight Bay by taking Rapid Penang bus 101 from Weld Quay Ferry & Bus Terminal or 102 from the Penang International Airport. Press the bell immediately after Miami Beach (ask the locals on the bus if unfamiliar).
