The 101 bus route begins in Weld Quay (Pengkalan Weld), near George Town’s ferry terminal, and continues through the city before heading up the northern coastline. The journey is scenic, with sea views and access to some of Penang’s most attractive spots.

From George Town to Teluk Bahang, the entire journey usually takes about 1 hour 15 minutes, depending on traffic conditions along the coastal road.
The 101 bus is the best option for those who want a budget-friendly way to reach Penang’s northern beaches and attractions. A taxi or e-hailing ride can cost significantly more, while the 101 allows passengers to travel the entire route for just a few ringgit. It is particularly popular with backpackers and day-trippers heading to Batu Ferringhi or the national park.
Bus 101 runs from 5:30am to 11:30pm daily. First bus from Jetty and from Teluk Bahang leave their respective terminals at 5:30am.
Based on plan, there is supposed to be a bus every 10 to 12 minutes.
