Air Putih, Balik Pulau (16 February 2013)


Air Putih is a village in Balik Pulau. The name "air putih" means "white water", in reference to the foam created by the cascades and rapids in the river. It should not be mistaken for Air Puteh, the road and neighbourhood in Air Itam.

The Air Putih Village is located outside of Kongsi, on the way to Sungai Pinang. Today it is experiencing rapid residential development. The new township here is called Bandar Baru Air Putih, better known as Botanica CT. It is the most ambitious project in Balik Pulau so far. The river flowing through the area is likewise called Sungai Air Putih.

Getting there

The main road, Jalan Air Putih, is served by Rapid Penang bus 403, 404 and 501.
