Jaya Souvenirs Confectionery is a bakery along Siam Road in George Town, Penang. I only come across it today (14 July 2014) when I was caught in a traffic queue and happened to looked to the shop on my left, to see that it was a biscuit shop selling Tambun biscuits with durian filling. My wife and I quickly decided to give it a try, and I parked beside the shop while she went in to make a purchase.
Five minutes later, she came back two two boxes of Chinese pastries, and RM19.60 poorer. The first box was the "Durian pulp sweetheart cookie". It cost RM11.80 for six rather big puffy pastries. The other box has 12 "durian pulp double-filling Tambun biscuits", at RM7.80. The shop claims that the durian used was the Mor3sang3 Ong2, or Musang King, one of the highest grade local durians.

I brought the biscuit home and took some photos of it. I know it looks a lot like a biscuit advertisement, but I can't help the masak-masak before I try the biscuit. As at time of writing, I have only tried the durian pulp sweetheart cookie. It is quite puffy, and you could distinctly feel the durian pulp used in the cookie. But as each cookie cost almost RM2.00 and is gone in less than two minutes, I find it a bit extravagant.

On the other hand, I like the durian-pulp Tambun biscuit very much. It was freshly baked when we bought it, and they sealed the biscuits into the vacuum packs for my wife. When we opened up the packs, the biscuits were still crunchy. There was just a hint of the durian, so the durian aroma was not as heavy as we had expected. Nonetheless they were quite tasty.
