Permatang Batu (GPS: 5.36435, 100.43229) is a village in Bukit Mertajam, Penang. Traditionally located between Permatang Rawa and the Jalan Baru Roundabout, Permatang Batu has in the past two decades been hemmed in by the development of Bandar Perda. The main road, Jalan Permatang Batu, connects the roundabout with Jalan Permatang Rawa. It is lined on both sides with mostly Chinese shops, even though Permatang Batu was originally a Malay settlement. Development here is presently rather scattered.
