Idyllic farm house beside the paddy fields of Sungai Dua, Seberang Perai (18 July 2015)
Sungai Dua (GPS: 5.44528, 100.42965) is a locality in Butterworth, in Seberang Perai, Penang. Not to be mistaken for Sungai Dua on Penang Island, the Sungai Dua on Penang Mainland is located to the north of Sungai Perai, and to the east of the North-South Expressway. In the last decade Sungai Dua has experienced rapid housing development.
The main road in Sungai Dua is the Sungai Dua Main Road, or Jalan Sungai Dua. The road, which is State Route P198, extends out of the township. It starts at the intersection with Jalan Sungai Puyu in the west, bends south to end at a junction with Jalan Kubang Semang. A section of Jalan Sungai Dua is obliterated by the Butterworth Outer Ring Road that was built over it at Exit 165 of the North-South Expressway Northern Route Sungai Dua Interchange.
Mainland Sungai Dua is served by Rapid Penang bus 602, 604 and 606.

18 July, 2015: Today my wife and I went for a ride in the country. By "country", I mean, we went "all the way" to Sungai Dua on the Penang Mainland. We saw something which we haven't seen for a long while: paddy fields! They are all golden in color, ready for harvest.
Thanks to our GPS, we went down country lanes - small enough for only one car to pass - and saw a combine harvester. There are cows by the riverside, like they came out of a Malaysian version of John Constable's painting. We saw kampong houses that are so pretty. They have fruit trees in the compound. There was one with jambu air (rose apples) and I stopped to take a photo. It was such a fun time we had, exploring the countryside on the Penang Mainland.
