Bukit Tunku Kudin is a neighbourhood in Gelugor, Penang. Covering an area of 30 acres, it is bounded by the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway to the east, Jalan Tunku Kudin to the north and Jalan Faraday to the west. The name Bukit Tunku Kudin refers to Tunku Dhiauddin ibni almarhum Sultan Zainul Rashid, a crown prince in the Kedah royal family in the 19th century, as he had his house, Tunku Kudin House, on the top of the hill there, overlooking the sea. This hill area is often called MetroEast-Udini among property developers.
The roads surrounding Bukit Tunku Kudin has become increasingly congested in the last few years due to surrounding development as well as that within Bukit Tunku Kudin itself. Its proximity to the Penang Bridge is another contributing factor to the congestion, as well as the limited with of the Udini Underpass. Unless the traffic situation is improved, the area is expected to become even more congested when the ongoing construction is completed.
