Hainanese Mariners' LodgeHainanese Mariners' Lodge (14 January 2015)

Hainanese Mariners' Lodge was a lodge established by Hainanese sailors on Stewart Lane, in George Town, Penang. It used to occupy 26A Stewart Lane. According to a Penang Heritage Trust plaque, the lodge was called "Loon Gnee Hing", which means "Lodging Place of the Artisans of the Wheel". The sailors rented that townhouse, but eventually bought it in 1960, to become the permanent site of their lodge.

As time went by, the aging sailors retired from their profession one by one, and the building came into disused. It was rented to the Penang Heritage Trust and was used as its former secretariat, until the present Penang Heritage Trust office was completed on 25 June, 2006.
