43 & 45 Church Street, George Town (15 September 2012)


43 & 45 Church Street (GPS: 5.41877, 100.33989) are two late 19th century shophouses along Church Street, within the core zone of the George Town UNESCO World Heritage Site. Both are in remarkably well-preserved conditions. 43 Church Street has been restored as during the writing of this article (Oct 2012) while 45 Church Street is still in its original condition.

43 & 45 Church Street are three storey shophouses. 45 Church Street still retains its original wooden jalousies on the second and third floor, with glazed Chinese vent tiles at the spandrels of the second floor. The ground floor façade of 45 Church Street is plain, with the doorway blanked by simple rectangular windows.
