Downtown Restaurant, George Town, Penang (1 June 2013)


Downtown Restaurant (or Restoran Downtown) is a hawker centre in George Town, Penang. It is located at the junction of Bridge Street (Jalan CY Choy) and Presgrave Street, and is the biggest eatery in the area. Downtown Restaurant can be entered from both Bridge and Presgrave Streets.

When I passed by it, although Downtown Restaurant is quite big, it is also quite empty. I probably arrived at a wrong time, when most of the stalls are not operating.

Getting there

From the Komtar Bus Terminal, walk along Jalan Ria until Magazine Road. Turn left, walk along Magazine Road till junction of McNair Street. Go along McNair Street until junction of Presgrave Street. Turn left into Presgrave Street and walk till intersection with Bridge Street, and you will find Downtown Restaurant on your right.
