Merlin Hotel (GPS: 5.419405, 100.341760) is a hotel along Union Street in George Town, Penang. It is housed in a 4-storey Early Modern-style building that wraps around the corner between Union and Penang Streets. Although much of the façade is on Union Street, the address is on Penang Street.

For many years, Merlin Hotel is synonymous with the Merlin Hotel Nasi Kandar stall that operates from the coffee shop on the group floor. In late 2014, the hotel underwent refurbishing. It now offers 16 rooms with flat-screen television and wifi connectivity. The rooms are clean and are ideal for those wanting to be in the inner city of George Town. Merlin Hotel is within the World Heritage Site, and close to many of the tourist attractions there. Those coming by car can park at the hotel parking space, which is next to the hotel.

Getting there

On foot
It is possible to walk to Merlin Hotel from the Weld Quay Ferry and Bus Terminal. After crossing Weld Quay (Pengkalan Weld) on the pedestrian bridge, turn right and go along Weld Quay until China Street Ghaut (Gat Lebuh China). Go along China Street Ghaut until Beach Street (Lebuh Pantai), turn right, go along Beach Street until junction with Union Street (Lebuh Union) on your left. Go along Union Street until you arrive at Merlin Hotel at the end.

Bus
The nearest bus stop is along Light Street, served by Rapid Penang 103, 204, 502 and CAT.
