The North-South Expressway Southern Route (E2) is an expressway that bears south out of Kuala Lumpur to Johor Bahru.

Distances are measured from south to north, beginning with kilometer-310 where it connects to the Kuala Lumpur-Seremban Expressway, counting down to kilometer-0 at Exit 257, the Johor Bahru Interchange.

All the interchanges on the North-South Expressway Southern Route have 3 digits starting with a 2, to denote an exit on the E2 expressway. The exits are numbered from north to south - the farther away from Kuala Lumpur, the higher the exit number. The first exit on the North-South Expressway Southern Route is Exit 210 (UPM Interchange) while the last is Exit 257 (Johor Bahru Interchange).

Exit 209: UPM Interchange

The UPM Interchange is a trumpet interchange. The northeast route is the end of the Sungai Besi Expressway (E9), leading towards Sungai Besi, Mines Resort City and Balakong. The southwest route is the Kajang Dispersal Link Expressway, also called the Kajang SILK Expressway (E18), which heads towards Universiti Tenaga Nasional, Putrajaya, Cyberjaya and Puchong. This is also the exit to reach the South Klang Valley Expressway (E26).

Exit 210: Kajang Interchange

The Kajang Interchange is a trumpet interchange. The west route leads to the Kajang Dispersal Link Expressway (E18) going towards Universiti Tenaga Nasional, Putrajaya, Cyberjaya and Puchong, while the east route leads to Kajang and Semenyih.

The Putra Mahkota Interchange is a trumpet interchange. The exit leads to Bandar Seri Putra and Bukit Mahkota.

The Nilai North Interchange is a T interchange that connects the North-South Expressway to the ELITE Highway. Exit here to head to KLIA, Shah Alam and onwards to the North-South Expressway Northern Route (E1).

The Nilai Interchange is a T interchange. The exit leads to Bandar Baru Nilai and Nilai town. You exit here to go to Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia, Pajam and Sepang.

Seremban Rest Area

The Seremban Rest & Service Area are rest stops on both sides of the expressway. Motorists can stop here for a meal.

The Seremban Interchange is a Parcelo interchange. The exit leads to State Route N38 (Jalan Sungai Ujong) that goes to Seremban town, passing by the Seremban State Museum and Kemayan Square.

Exit 219: Port Dickson Interchange

The Port Dickson Interchange is a Parcelo interchange. The exit leads to the Seremban-Port Dickson Highway (E29) to Port Dickson, and to Route 53 to Rasah, Rasah Jaya and Mambau.

Exit 220: Senawang Interchange

The Senawang Interchange is a trumpet interchange. The exit leads to Route 97 that goes to Senawang. Route 97 also links to Federal Route 1 that goes back to Seremban and down south to Johor Bahru, and farther on, it connects to Route 51, the route to Kuala Pilah.

Exit 223: Pedas-Linggi Interchange

The Pedas-Linggi Interchange is a trumpet interchange. Exiting the expressway, you can take State Route N9 heading north to reach Pedas, and south to reach Linggi. From Linggi, you can continue on Federal Route 5, a coastal road that bears north to Port Dickson.

Negeri Sembilan - Malacca Border

Exit 227: Simpang Ampat Interchange

The Simpang Ampat Interchange is a trumpet interchange in Malacca. You exit here to go to the A Famosa Resort, to the town of Simpang Ampat and Alor Gajah. It you take State Route M10 bearing west to Federal Route 61 and than north, you reach Tampin in Negri Sembilan.

Exit 231: Ayer Keroh Interchange

The Ayer Keroh Interchange is a trumpet interchange, the exit to Malacca Town. The route to town is State Route M29, also called Leboh Ayer Keroh. It passes through numerous Malacca attractions such as the Butterfly & Reptile Sanctuary, Zoo Melaka, Taman Mini Malaysia, and so on.

Exit 233: Jasin Interchange

The Jasin Interchange is a trumpet interchange. Exiting here takes you to State Route M25. Bear north to go to Jasin, or south to go to Merlimau.

Exit 235: Tangkak Interchange

The Tangkak Interchange is a trumpet interchange. Exit here and bear north on the Federal Route 23 to go to Tangkak and Gunung Ledang and then onwards to Segamat. Heading south on Route 23 takes you to Muar.

Malacca-Johor Border

Exit 236: Bukit Gambir Interchange

The Tangkak Interchange is a trumpet interchange under construction in 2010, and expected to be ready by 2013. Exiting here takes you to State Route J33. Bear northeast to go to Gerisik and then Bukit Gambir. Bear southwest to go to Sungai Mati and then Muar.

Pagoh Rest Area - Northbound

The Pagoh Rest & Service Area is located on the northbound side of the expressway.

Exit 238: Pagoh Interchange

The Pagoh Interchange is a trumpet interchange. Exiting here takes you to State Route J32. Heading west takes you to Pagoh. There's a turning on the left of the road to Pagoh that takes you northwest on J137 to Panchor. Heading east on J32 takes you to Muar.

The Pagoh Rest & Service Area is located on the southbound side of the expressway.

Yong Peng Rest Stop - Northbound

The Yong Peng Rest Stop is located on the northbound side of the expressway.

Yong Peng Rest Stop - Southbound

The Yong Peng Rest Stop is located on the southbound side of the expressway.

Exit 241: Yong Peng North Interchange

The Yong Peng North Interchange is a trumpet interchange. Coming off the expressway here takes you to Route 24. Bear north to go to Yong Peng. Bear south on Route 24 to go to Batu Pahat.

Exit 242: Yong Peng South Interchange

The Yong Peng South Interchange is an entry-exit interchange for traffic heading south from Yong Peng or going to Yong Peng from the south only.

Exit 244: Ayer Hitam Interchange

The Ayer Hitam Interchange is a trumpet interchange. You exit the expressway to Route 50, also known as Jalan Batu Pahat. Going south takes you to Ayer Itam and then onwards to Batu Pahat. Going north takes you to Kluang.

Machap Rest Area

The Machap Rest & Service Area is located on both sides of the expressway. There is a Shell and a Petronas service station on the southbound side, and a Petronas station on the northbound side.

Exit 245: Machap Interchange

The Machap Interchange is a trumpet interchange. You come off the expressway onto Federal Route 1, the Old Trunk Road. Going east on Route 1 takes you to Machap while going west takes you back to Route 50 in Ayer Itam, from where you can continue to Batu Pahat or Kluang.

Exit 247: Simpang Renggam Interchange

The Simpang Renggam Interchange is a trumpet interchange. You come off the expressway onto Route 96, also called Jalan Parit Ismail. Going north on this road takes you to Federal Route 1, and from there turn left and go northwest to reach Simpang Renggam. Taking Route 96 south takes you to Benut. This is the exit to continue to Pontian.

The Simpang Renggam Rest Stop is located on both sides of the expressway.

Exit 250: Sedenak Interchange

The Sedenak Interchange is a trumpet interchange. You exit to State Route J118, also called Jalan Parit Panjang, which goes north to link with Federal Route 1come off the expressway onto Route 96, also called Jalan Parit Panjang. Going north on this road takes you to Federal Route 1, and onwards to Layang-Layang. Going south on Jalan Parit Panjang takes you to Ayer Baloi.

Exit 252: Kulai Interchange

The Kulai Interchange is yet another trumpet interchange. It exits to Jalan Sawah, which bears northeast to Kulai, and southwest to Gunung Pulai Recreational Forest.

Exit 253: Senai Interchange

The Senai North Interchange is a trumpet interchange. You exit the E2 directly onto the Second Link Expressway (E3), the expressway that bears south to Tanjung Kupang and onwards to Tuas in Singapore. Bear north on the E3 to go to Senai.

Skudai Toll Plaza

The Skudai Toll Plaza is where southbound motorists pay toll to pass through while northbound motorists collect the transit ticket or set their stored-value Touch n Go cards.

Exit 254: Skudai Interchange

The Skudai Interchange is a cloverleaf interchange. You exit to Federal Route 1, known as Lebuhraya Senai bearing north to Senai, and Lebuhraya Skudai bearing south towards Johor Bahru.

Exit 255: Kempas Interchange

The Kempas Interchange is a diamond interchange. You come off the expressway here to Jalan Kampung Maju Jaya. Heading north takes you to Starhill Golf & Country Club while heading south takes you to Kempas.

Exit 255B: Setia Tropika Interchange

The Setia Tropika Interchange is just a junction on the northbound side of the expressway for traffic heading to Setia Tropika township.

Exit 255C: Dato Onn Interchange

The Dato Onn Interchange is a trumpet interchange leading towards Adda Heights, Bandar Dato Onn and Taman Daya.

Exit 256: Pasir Gudang Interchange

The Pasir Gudang Interchange is an on-off ramp linking east to the Pasir Gudang Highway. Exiting here takes you to Pasir Gudang. You cannot go west at this exit.

Exit 256: Johor Bahru Interchange

The Johor Bahru Interchange is the southern end of the North South Expressway Southern Route (E2). Exiting the expressway here, bear north to go to Kota Tinggi, bear south to take the Tebrau Highway towards Johor Bahru. Go straight to continue your journey on the Johor Bahru Eastern Dispersal Link Expressway (E14). If you exit and continue east on Jalan Pandan, you will reach Kota Tinggi.
