History & Operational Details

The station was first announced in August 2014 as part of the upcoming Stage 4 of the Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL4). 2 Initially slated for completion in 2023, its opening was delayed to 23 June 2024 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and construction constraints. 2,3

This station serves the Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL). Its station code is TE25. 3 The immediate adjacent stations are Katong Park MRT Station (TE24) when travelling towards Woodlands North, and Marine Parade MRT Station (TE26) when travelling towards Bayshore. 3

While the station itself does not have a dedicated bus interchange integrated above it, there are bus stops directly outside the station along Tanjong Katong Road South (e.g., bus stops 82051 and 82059) serving bus routes such as 36, 48 and other east-coast services. 4

In terms of shopping and amenities, the station is located close to the heritage shopping district of Katong / Joo Chiat, which offers a vibrant mix of Peranakan shophouses, cafés and eateries.
