Outram Park MRT Station (28 July 2017)
Outram Park MRT Station (GPS: 1.28153, 103.83914; EW16/NE3) is an underground MRT station in
Outram,
Singapore. It is served by the
East-West Line and
North East Line. On the East-West Line, it is between the
Tanjong Pagar MRT Station (EW15) and
Tiong Bahru MRT Station (EW17) while on the North East Line, it is between the
HarbourFront MRT Station (NE1) and
Chinatown MRT Station (NE4). From 2021, the
Thomson-East Coast Line also passes through this station, between
Havelock MRT Station (TE16) and
Maxwell MRT Station (TE18).
The Outram Park MRT Station was named after
Outram Road, which was in turn named after British General Outram (1803-1863). The station first opened on 12 December 1987 for the East-West Line. It became an interchange when the North East Line was built to pass through it, operating from 20 June, 2003. The platforms of the two lines are linked by an underpass.
