Arnasalam Chetty Road, Singapore (30 July 2017)

Arnasalam Chetty Road is a short road in River Valley, Singapore. It connects to Martin Road on one end. The road is located across from Rodyk Street, near the Robertson Quay area. Arnasalam Chetty Road today leads to The Inspira condominium.

Neither the Singapore Street Names (2023 Edition) nor What's in the Name (2018 Edition) have anything to say about Arnasalam Chetty Road, but it is believed that the road was named after someone from the Chettiar community. The Chettiars possibly owned land in the River Valley area that stretches from the northern bend of the Singapore River all the way to the Sri Thendayuthapani Temple and the foot of Fort Canning, but their presence has been erased by time, leaving only street names that include Muthuraman Chetty Road, Narayanan Chetty Road and of course, this road.
