Liang Court, Singapore (30 July 2017)
Liang Court (GPS: 1.29156, 103.84463) is a now defunct shopping mall at
Clarke Quay, Singapore. It was located within the
Singapore River Planning Area in Postal District 06. The property opened in January 1984 with a podium mall and two 25-storey high rise blocks, namely the Hotel New Otani (which then became Novotal Clarke Quay) and Somerset Liang Court Residences.
Anchor tenants included the Japanese department store Daimaru and bookstore Kinokuniya. In 2004, Hotel New Otani was taken over by Accor Hotels, and was renamed Novotel Singapore Clarke Quay. The shopping mall also changed ownership, to Pidemco Land in 1999 and to Asia Retail Management Fund in 2006. Uniqlo even opened here in November 2013. However, the mall was aging and in decline, and in March 2019, the entire property was sold to Legend Quay Ptd Ltd, a joint venture between CapitaLand and City Development Limited. By August 2021, Liang Court has been completely demolished to make way for the construction of
Canninghill Piers.
