Chong Boon is primarily a residential subzone developed during the expansion of Ang Mo Kio New Town in the late 1970s and 1980s. The area consists largely of HDB apartment blocks, complemented by neighbourhood centres that provide everyday conveniences. As a mature estate, many flats here have undergone upgrading and renewal, ensuring their continued liveability.
