Jalan Kuala Jalan Baru, Balik Pulau (27 February 2013)
Jalan Kuala Jalan Baru is a small, rather straight road on the western side of Balik Pulau, Penang. It was given its rather unusual name (which translates as "New Road Estuary Road") because it connects Jalan Baru with Kuala Jalan Baru.
Jalan Kuala Jalan Baru covers a distance of 1.2 kilometers. Flowing next to it is the canalised Sungai Kuala Jalan Baru, which is also called Sungai Kongsi and Sungai Titi Teras, at various point of its flow. The road ends at a bridge across Sungai Samagagah, which converge with Sungai Kuala Jalan Baru at Kuala Jalan Baru, just in front of the Kuala Jalan Baru Tua Pek Kong Temple.
The people living along Jalan Kuala Jalan Baru as well as at the village of Kuala Jalan Baru are mostly Chinese. They make a living as fishermen or in the auxiliary trades. Jalan Kuala Jalan Baru is famous for the home coffee shop selling Hokkien Mee, known as the Kuala Jalan Bahru Hokkien Mee.
