Connaught Drive, Singapore (28 July 2017)
Connaught Drive is a road in downtown
Singapore. It connects
Stamford Road on one end with
St Andrew's Road on the other. Connaught Drive also branches off to
Fullerton Road at a roundabout. It borders the southern part of the
Padang, separating it from
Esplanade Park.
Originally called New Esplanade Road, Connaught Drive was given its present name in 1907 to commemorate the visit of
Prince Arthur, Duke of Connaught and Strathearn and his wife
Princess Louise Margaret of Prussia.
