China Street is a street in
Outram,
Singapore. A two-way street, it connects
Church Street in the north to
Cross Street in the south. In between, three minor lanes form junctions with it, namely from north to south
Hokien Street, Nankin Street and Chin Chew Street.
According to
Singapore Street Names1, China Street was once lined with Chinese gambling dens. As such, it was known in
Penang Hokkien as
Kiau1 Keng3 Khau4 
, meaning "gambling den corner".
