Makam Arong Lenga, Malacca
Makam Arong Lenga (GPS: 2.16941, 102.31785) is a mausoleum or tomb to a Bugis warrior in
Malacca. It is located beside State Route M103 in
Telok Mas. Arong Lenga is one of the warriors to be killed in the battle of 1784 with the Dutch in the battle of Tanjung Palas. The Dutch attack was in retaliation for the series of attacks launched by local Bugis chieftain Raja Haji Fisabilillah, on various Dutch positions in Malacca including Punggor, Duyong, Pernu, Semabok, Ujong Pasir, Bunga Raya, Bandar Hilir,
Bukit Cina,
Tanjung Kling and Tengkera.
The relation between the Bugis and the Dutch had soured when the spoils from the pillage of the English vessel was divided between the Dutch and the French, without the knowledge of the Bugis, even though the raid was carried out in Riau waters.
