Jalan Sungai Pinang, Balik Pulau (16 February 2013)


Jalan Sungai Pinang is one of the main roads in Balik Pulau. It should not be confused with Jalan Sungai Pinang in George Town.

Jalan Sungai Pinang of Balik Pulau leads out of Balik Pulau town (also known as Kongsi) towards the village of Sungai Pinang. However, long before it arrives at Sungai Pinang, it has changed its name, first to Jalan Air Putih, and then to Jalan Sungai Rusa.

As Jalan Sungai Pinang leads out of Balik Pulau, it passes through the administrative centre of town. Among the sights here include the Balik Pulau Hospital and the Balik Pulau District Office. As it heads out of Balik Pulau town, it passes a number of rural settlements such as Titi Teras, Air Putih and Sungai Rusa. Due to their proximity to Balik Pulau, as well as pressures from the urban sprawl of George Town, these rural villages are now experiencing housing development.

Getting there

Rapid Penang Bus 403 and 404 pass through Jalan Sungai Pinang.
