Admiralty House is a three-storey historical building of yellow brick facing Whitehall and the Horse Guards Parade in London. It was built at the request of Admiral Lord Howe, the First Lord of the Admiralty, in 1782-3, seeking "a few small rooms of my own".

Among the more illustrious residents of Admiralty House included Winston Churchill, who served as First Lord of the Admiralty from 1911-15 and 1939-40. The building remained the official residence of the First Lords of the Admiralty until 1964, and also served as the home of British Prime Ministers when 10 Downing Street was under renovation.

Admiralty House in London is one of the administrative buildings of the British navy. It is part of a complex of former Admiralty buildings that includes the Ripley Building built in 1726, the Admiralty Extension built between 1898 and 1904, and the Admiralty Arch, built in 1910.

Getting there

The nearest stations of the London Underground are Charing Cross and Westminster. You can easily reach it by walking down Whitehall from Trafalgar Square. The building is on your right.

About this website

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
