Metropolitan Park

It was opened to the public on 26 July 2003 by the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Pulau Pinang, TYT Tun Dato' Seri Utama (Dr) Haji Abdul Rahman bin Haji Abbas. The Metropolitan Park created in answer for the need of a public recreational area in the southern park of Penang Island. Until its establishment, there was no official recreational space to support the Penang's metropolitan area that has grown to encompasses Relau, Sungai Ara and Bayan Lepas.
The Metropolitan Park is managed by the Penang Island Municipal Council (Majlis Perbandaran Pulau Pinang, or MPPP) which also manages the Municipal Park and the Penang Botanic Gardens.
