Lintang Siakap is a residential road in the Siakap precinct of Seberang Jaya, Seberang Perai, Penang. It connects Lengkok Siakap 3 in the west to Lengkok Siakap 1 in the east, forming part of the local network of streets within the neighbourhood. The road provides access to homes in the area while maintaining the calm and community-focused environment that characterises the Siakap precinct.
Lintang Siakap is lined with terrace houses and serves as a convenient link between adjoining streets. Like many of the roads in Seberang Jaya, it is designed for local traffic, ensuring a quieter atmosphere compared to major thoroughfares. Amenities such as convenience shops, food outlets, and small surau are available within walking distance, while larger facilities are just a short drive away.
The Siakap precinct, including Lintang Siakap, was developed during the establishment of Seberang Jaya in the late 1970s and early 1980s1. Conceived as a satellite township, Seberang Jaya was intended to provide housing and community facilities for those working in the nearby Perai Industrial Estate and Butterworth area. The roads in the precinct are themed after fish, with “Siakap” referring to the Asian seabass, a significant fish in local culture and cuisine.
The houses along Lintang Siakap are primarily terrace homes, with built-up sizes ranging from 1,100 sq ft (102 sq m) to 1,500 sq ft (139 sq m)2. In 2025, intermediate units typically range from RM400,000 to RM530,000, while corner units are valued between RM590,000 and RM670,0003. Monthly rentals are generally between RM1,200 and RM1,800 depending on upgrades and furnishing4.
Residents of Lintang Siakap enjoy access to a range of amenities in Seberang Jaya, including schools, local eateries, and healthcare at Seberang Jaya Hospital. For shopping and leisure, Sunway Carnival Mall and nearby commercial centres are easily accessible. Parks and recreational facilities further enhance the quality of life for families in the neighbourhood.
Lintang Siakap is well connected to Jalan Siakap and Jalan Baru, the main access roads of Seberang Jaya. From here, residents can easily reach the North–South Expressway and the Penang Bridge. Public buses along Jalan Baru link the neighbourhood with Butterworth, Perai, and Penang Island5.
The Asian seabass, known locally as “siakap,” is a common and popular fish in Penang’s culinary scene. The naming of the precinct reflects Malaysia’s tradition of assigning meaningful or thematic names to neighbourhoods, fostering a sense of identity among residents.
