Madras Street, SingaporeMadras Street, Singapore

Madras Street is a street in the Little India neighbourhood of Rochor, Singapore. Today it connects Dunlop Street with Dalhousie Lane, and forms a junction with Campbell Lane. The street was named after the city of Chennai, which was formerly known as Madras, and was significant in that a great number of Tamil immigrants in Singapore arrived from there. During the colonial period, the British also had their administrative centre in Madras.
