Sri Damansara Timur MRT Station (PY08; 3.20773, 101.62855) is an elevated station on the MRT Putrajaya Line serving the northeastern part of Bandar Sri Damansara and the western edge of Kepong. It lies at the border of Selangor and Kuala Lumpur but is officially located within Kuala Lumpur’s city limits. The station is positioned between the Sri Damansara Sentral MRT Station (PY07) in the southwest and the Metro Prima MRT Station (PY09) in the northeast. It began operations on 16 June 20221.
The Sri Damansara Timur MRT Station serves as a key interchange and boundary station where the MRT Putrajaya Line transitions from Selangor into the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur. It is located at the junction of Persiaran Dagang and Jalan Kuala Selangor, on the northern periphery of Kepong2.
This elevated station caters to commuters from both Bandar Sri Damansara in Selangor and Kepong in Kuala Lumpur, providing a seamless link for residents who travel daily toward the city centre or Sungai Buloh. The station is also directly connected to the Kepong Sentral Komuter Station, forming an important interchange between the MRT and KTM Komuter lines3.
Sri Damansara Timur MRT Station follows the architectural style common to the Putrajaya Line’s elevated section — featuring an island platform with two tracks, open-air concourse, escalators, lifts, and barrier-free accessibility. Commuter convenience is enhanced by the integration of pedestrian walkways and a dedicated feeder bus terminal4.
The station’s location offers multiple transport options. The direct connection to Kepong Sentral Komuter Station enables passengers to transfer between the MRT Putrajaya Line and KTM Komuter’s Port Klang Line — making it one of several rail-to-rail interchanges in the Klang Valley5.
Additionally, feeder buses operated by Rapid KL link the station with surrounding residential areas including Bandar Sri Damansara, Bandar Menjalara, and Kepong Baru. The nearby Kuala Lumpur–Kuala Selangor Expressway (LATAR, E35) and Damansara–Puchong Expressway (LDP, E11) further enhance accessibility6.
The station serves as an important transportation hub for residents on both sides of the Selangor–Kuala Lumpur border. It also marks the point where the MRT Putrajaya Line aligns with the KTM rail corridor, reinforcing intermodal connectivity within the Klang Valley’s expanding mass transit system7.
