Kepong Sentral Komuter Station (GPS: 3.20864, 101.62804) is a major rail station in the suburb of Kepong, Kuala Lumpur. It serves the KTM Komuter Seremban Line, providing convenient connections between Kuala Lumpur Sentral and northern destinations such as Sungai Buloh and Rawang. The station lies adjacent to the Sri Damansara Timur MRT Station (PY08), enabling easy transfers between the KTM Komuter and the MRT Putrajaya Line1.
Kepong Sentral Komuter Station is one of the two KTM Komuter stations serving the Kepong area, the other being Kepong Komuter Station. It was constructed to serve the growing residential and commercial communities in the northern part of Kuala Lumpur, and officially opened to the public in 20062.
The station sits just off Jalan Kepong and is directly connected to the Sri Damansara Timur MRT Station via a pedestrian walkway, allowing passengers to transfer seamlessly between KTM Komuter and the MRT network. This makes Kepong Sentral one of the key intermodal hubs in the northwestern corridor of the Klang Valley3.
Kepong Sentral Komuter Station features two side platforms serving two tracks, with a central concourse for ticketing and passenger access. Facilities include covered waiting areas, public restrooms, ticket vending machines, and a small convenience shop4.
The station also has park-and-ride facilities, a taxi stand, and feeder bus stops nearby, improving connectivity for commuters from surrounding neighbourhoods such as Bandar Menjalara, Desa ParkCity, and Sri Damansara5.
The Kepong Sentral Komuter Station lies on the KTM Komuter Seremban Line, which runs from Pulau Sebang/Tampin Komuter Station in the south through KL Sentral Komuter Station and northwards to Rawang Komuter Station and beyond6.
With the addition of the Sri Damansara Timur MRT Station, passengers from Kepong Sentral can easily transfer to the MRT Putrajaya Line for direct access to Tun Razak Exchange (TRX), Cyberjaya, and Putrajaya. This interchange significantly enhances cross-network mobility within the Klang Valley7.
Kepong Sentral Komuter Station plays a vital role in integrating northern Kuala Lumpur’s suburban communities with the wider Klang Valley rail system. Before the construction of the MRT interchange, it primarily served office commuters heading towards central Kuala Lumpur. Now, it functions as a key interchange node between the KTM Komuter and MRT systems, offering alternative routes and reducing travel times8.
The station also supports last-mile connectivity through Rapid KL buses and other feeder services that connect residential zones with commercial areas, educational institutions, and shopping centres in Kepong and Sri Damansara9.
