Station Design and Layout

Jalan Ipoh MRT Station is built underground with an island platform configuration serving two tracks. The station has three entrances positioned along Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah to cater to both sides of the busy thoroughfare. Its interior design draws inspiration from Kuala Lumpur’s early 20th-century shophouses, using warm tones and linear lighting to evoke the character of old Jalan Ipoh4.

Surrounding Area

The station is strategically located near the historic core of Jalan Ipoh, one of Kuala Lumpur’s earliest arterial roads. The surrounding area features a mix of pre-war commercial blocks, automotive workshops, and small eateries known for local Chinese and Indian cuisine. Nearby landmarks include the Viva Residency, Taman Million, and Sentul’s industrial zone5.

Connectivity

The station provides easy access to Rapid KL bus routes operating along Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah and nearby Jalan Sentul. It is also a short drive from Sentul Komuter Station and Titiwangsa Monorail Station, offering alternative rail links to other parts of Kuala Lumpur6.

Fun Fact

Jalan Ipoh was originally named after the northern Malaysian city of Ipoh, as it served as the old route linking Kuala Lumpur to Perak in the early 1900s. The MRT station thus marks one of the city’s oldest transport corridors, now rejuvenated as part of Kuala Lumpur’s expanding mass rapid transit network7.
