Former Kuan Lok Bakery & Cafe (20 March 2013)


Kuan Lok (GPS: 5.41769, 100.3292) was a popular Hainanese bakery and café located at 10 Burmah Road, George Town. It operated until the late 1970s. Though Kuan Lok is no longer operating today, the bakery and café is still being remembered fondly by many Penangites.

Kuan Lok was housed in a double-storey bungalow at the junction of Burmah Road and Transfer Road. The building is still extant today and is today occupied by Canon Image Square.

Getting there

From the Komtar Bus Terminal, walk westward along Tek Soon Street until Penang Road. Turn right and go along Penang Road until junction of Burmah Road. Take the pedestrian bridge to cross Burmah Road to the other side, then go along Burmah Road until you reach No. 10 Burmah Road on your right. That's the former location of Kuan Lok.
