Jalan Teh Cheok Sah is a road within the commercial heart of Bukit Mertajam. A relatively short road, it forms a letter "L" connecting the intersection with Jalan Bunga Raya and Jalan Pasar with its junction to Jalan Stesen.
Jalan Teh Cheok Sah was named after the mid-20th century local philanthropist and landowner, Teh Cheok Sah, whose contribution includes the construction of the Cheok Sah Cinema. His name lives on today in the Cheok Sah Food Court.
Over the decades, even as Bukit Mertajam urbanises elsewhere, this core downtown area of the town has gradually decayed. Nevertheless, it has remained vibrant, particularly in the morning, when the BM Market is in session. As a result, much of the area suffers congestion and parking problem. To address the parking woes, a number of makeshift car parks have sprouted up along Jalan Teh Choek Sah, one across from Cheok Sah Cinema, and another beside it.

Getting there
Jalan Teh Cheok Sah has a bus stop next to the Bukit Mertajam Railway Station, but as far as I remember, it is not served by the Rapid Penang bus. The nearest bus stop for Rapid Penang is along Jalan Muthu Palaniappan, served by Rapid Penang bus 701, 702, 709, 802.
