Here I am at Hin Bus Depot in George Town, Penang (15 April 2023)
Hin Bus Depot (GPS: 5.4122, 100.32813), also called the Hin Company Bus Depot, is an art gallery housed in a former bus depot along Brick Kiln Road, in George Town, Penang. The bus depot was built in the Art Deco style and was used by its namesake Hin Company. After a consolidation exercise, the bus company was rebranded as KGN Hin Bus, and continued for a few more years before folding over.
For many years, the bus depot was left in a state of disuse until it was given a makeover in 2014 as an art gallery. The bus depot has since come a catalyst to turn this part of Brick Kiln Road into an arts precinct, and has enabled the founding of cafés in the surrounding vicinity that attracts artists and art enthusiasts.
