The Heathrow Terminal 4 Tube Station is served by the Piccadilly Line between the Hatton Cross Tube Station and Heathrow Terminals 1,2,3 Tube Station. Trains serving Heathrow Terminal 4 Tube Station terminates at Heathrow Terminal 1,2,3 Tube Station. The track is unidirectional from Hatton Cross, so there are no train services going in the opposite direction from Terminals 1,2,3 to Terminal 4.
Half the trains coming from Hatton Cross continues to Heathrow Terminal 4 while another half head directly to the Heathrow Terminals 1,2,3 Tube Station to terminate at Heathrow Terminal 5 Tube Station. Heathrow Terminal 4 Tube Station opened on 12 April 1986 to serve the airport terminal which opened on 1 April 1986.
Transfer between Heathrow Terminal 4 Tube Station and Heathrow Terminals 1,2,3 Tube Station is not free. The stations are in Travelcard Zone 6, and passengers still need a ticket. To travel without charge, you need to ride the Heathrow Express between the Heathrow Terminal 4 Railway Station and Heathrow Central (Terminals 1,2,3) Railway Station.
