Brutalist architecture did not make much headway in
George Town, Penang. The "cold" appearance, as well as the fact that buildings of the brutalist design do not weather well, makes this style rather unpopular.
In Penang, you can view two examples of the Brutalist style facing each other:
Dewan Sri Pinang on one side and the
Bank Negara Malaysia building on the other. The Phase One
podium block of Komtar can also be regarded as an interpretation of Brutalist architecture.
