Lebuh Tamil

Tamil Street, or Lebuh Tamil, is a short street in the inner city of George Town, Penang. It runs from Penang Road to Kuala Kangsar Road, and is one of the streets which was an enclave for the Tamils who operated a market.

Until the middle part of the 20th century, the area has been predominantly South Asian in character, hence the name of the next road being Chowrasta Road, and the market named Chowrasta Market.

Getting there

Rapid Penang bus 10, 11, 101, 103, 104, 201, 202, 203, U204, 206, 301 and 302 are among those that pass by Penang Road. From there, it is just a short walk to Tamil Street.
