Me Cung Cave, Halong Bay, Vietnam

Me Cung Cave is located on Lom Bo island, 2km southwest of the beach at Ti Top island. The name Me Cung means Bewitching. The entrance to the cave is very narrow, allowing only one person to squeeze through at any one time. Then it widens into several small and narrow chambers, with beautiful stalagmites and stalactities. The cave is dry and well ventilated. There is a thick layer of shells on the ground. Archaeologists believe that there was a new Stone Age culture at Me Cung Cave between 7000 and 10,000 years ago.

As you exit Me Cung Cave, climb up a few stone steps to arrive at a lake surrounded by the mountains. There is a wide variety of fish, shrimps and algae that makes the lake their home.

Going to Me Cung Cave

Me Cung Cave may not be part of every itinerary. It is not a major sight, so you may have to ask your boatman to point it out, should your boat pass its way. You can easily book a tour of Halong Bay from any travel agencies in Hanoi. If you wish to use the tour agency that I used, you can contact Mrs Moon of Golden Sun Hotel, 23 Hang Hahn Street, phone: +84-4-8286316, email: goldensun_hotel@yahoo.com.

About this website

Hello and thanks for reading this page. My name is Timothy and my hobby is in describing places so that I can share the information with the general public. My website has become the go to site for a lot of people including students, teachers, journalists, etc. whenever they seek information on places, particularly those in Malaysia and Singapore. I have been doing this since 5 January 2003, for over twenty years already. You can read about me at Discover Timothy. By now I have compiled information on thousands of places, mostly in Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore, and I continue to add more almost every day. My goal is to describe every street in every town in Malaysia and Singapore.
