Proposed Union Street Park

Union Street Park is one of the many urban parks proposed in the George Town Special Area Plan. It is to occupy a piece of property off Union Street, providing some greenery to the otherwise built-up part of the city.

Appreciating the Historical Significance of the Site

The proposed Union Street Park occupies part of the land belonging to the police. The entire plot from Union Street right up to Beach Street and Light Street used to be the Central Police Station of George Town. It included the Police Court Building which today houses the Penang State Assembly.
