Wat Phan Lao (GPS: 18.75115, 99.00361; Thai: วัดพันเลา ) is a Thai Buddhist temple in Wiang Kum Kam, to the south of Chiang Mai, Thailand. There isn't much of a temple that you can see today, just the foundation stones protruding out of the ground. The site underwent archaeological excavation and restoration work by the Fine Arts Department in 2002-2003. The excavation yielded the basement and connecting buildings.
Archaeological work uncovered artefacts such as stucco motifs of the head of a staircase, which is known in the Northern dialect as Tuo Ngao. Fragments of roof tiles as the receding circular mouldings of the tip of a chedi were also uncovered. Buildings in Wat Phan Lao cluster into two groups on an east-west axis. It is believed that this is one of the important temples in use in Wiang Kum Kam in the 17th century. Today the Wat Phan Lao site is surrounded by houses.
