Nong Nooch Garden & Resort Cultural Performance (5 February 2012)


Nong Nooch Garden & Resort, also known as Nong Nooch Tropical Paradise or Nong Nooch Tropical Botanical Garden, is a manicured garden in Chonburi Province, Thailand. The garden occupies a 500-acre plot (out of a total of 600 acres) off kilometer 163 of Sukhumvit Road.

Today Nong Nooch has become a major tourist attraction of Thailand, visited by over two thousand people every day. Attractions at Nong Nooch include the Tropical Gardens, the Thai Cultural Show, Elephant Show, Sports Car Expo, Landscape Art, Animal Attractions, Festival Holidays and Restaurants.

Nong Nooch Tropical Botanical Garden (5 February 2012)


The chief attraction at Nong Nooch is its tropical garden. It has one of the most beautifully landscaped gardens in the world. The garden has a number of sections including a formal French Garden, European Garden, cactus & succulent garden, orchid & bromeliad garden, flower valley, and more. More than just a showcase of plants, Nong Nooch embarks on conservation of plant species in cultivation, and work to document and manage its diverse collection of plants. The botanical species in Nong Nooch include its various species of Heliconia, Zingiberales, Cacti, Cycads, Palms, Rhapis, Wrightia Tomentosa, Bougainvillea, creepers, clibers and Hoya.

In addition to its outstanding garden, Nong Nooch also stages daily cultural shows showcasing the performing arts of Thailand. It also showcases the history of Thailand with reenactment of battlescenes using live elephants. There is a separate elephant show where the pachyderms display their skills from playing football and basketball to painting.

Nong Nooch Tropical Landscaped Garden (5 February 2012)


The history of Nong Nooch Garden & Resort goes back to 1954, when Mr Pisit Tansacha purchased the land with the intention of turning it into a fruit plantation. The plan evolved when his wife Nongnooch Tansacha made a trip to Europe and was impressed by the landscaped gardens that she saw there. It inspired her to create a similar garden for tropical plants and trees.

Suan Nong Nooch, or Nongnooch's Garden, was inaugurated in 1980, and named in honor of Mrs Tansacha. She divided her time between the garden as her other activities in Bangkok, Chiang Rai, and the Nong Nooch Camping Resort in Prachinburi Province. Eventually the management of Suan Nong Nooch came under the responsibility of her son, Mr Kampon Tansacha.

Getting there

From Bangkok, take Sukhumvit Road heading east towards Pattaya. (For faster speed, use Motorway/Highway 7 until it links back to Sukhumvit Road.) Watch out for the signboard by the roadside for the turning in to Nong Nooch. The route from Sukhumvit Road to the gardens is another 3.7 km. The road is lined with flowering plants. You will pass through a Thai village within the orchard itself. The closer to get to the garden, the number of flowering plants increases until both sides of the road are lined with beautiful landscaped gardens.
