St George's Park is a public park proposed by the George Town Special Area Plan for the inner city of George Town, Penang. Covering 2.36 acres, it encompasses the grounds of the St George's Anglican Church. Apart from the church building itself, another major feature of the park would be the Francis Light Memorial, built to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the British settlement of George Town in Penang.

Appreciating the Historical Significance of this Site

The site of the St George's Anglican Church is the primary site for the Church of England, the main church for the British officers stationed in Penang. Francis Light does not appear to exhibit much religious attachment to the Anglican faith, as his relationship with Martina Rozells probably swayed him closer to the Roman Catholic faith than to the Protestant.

The present building of the Anglican church was built in the 19th century, a couple of decades after Francis Light had passed on.
