Chinese New Year dining at Royale Chulan Penang (15 January 2019)


Royale Chulan Penang is all set to usher in the Lunar New Year 2019. The hotel is putting together a selection of festive delights and delectable dine-in menus.

On 4 February 2019, the hotel will host a Fatt Choy Reunion Buffet Dinner at its Sri Tanjung Cafe (Level G) from 6:30 pm to 10:00 pm. This is priced at RM108 nett adult and RM68 nett senior citizen and child.

On 6 February 2019, which is the Second Day of Chinese New Year, diners may indulge in the Prosperity High Tea from 12:30 pm to 4:00 pm at Sri Tanjung Cafe (Level G). It is priced at RM68 nett adult and RM38 nett senior citizen and child.

If you are planning to have a family or company dinner for Chinese New Year at Royale Chulan Penang, the hotel is offering two 8-course dinners, priced at RM888 per table (Package 1) and RM988 per table (Package 2). Booking starts on 15 January and these packages are available until 19 February 2019. Each table is for 10 diners, and minimum booking is for 3 tables. Both packages include Salmon Yee Sang.

In conjunction with Chinese New Year, Royale Chulan Penang is also making available its Salmon Yee Sang, which is available from 15 January until 15 February 2019. This is priced at RM118 nett (10-12 people) and RM98 nett (6-8 people).

Finally, there will be a Lion Dance performance at the lobby of Royale Chulan Penang on 6 February, the second day of Chinese New Year, from 10:00 am onwards. Diners may also enjoy Live Music at the Heritage Lounge Monday to Saturday from 8:00 pm onwards.

Royale Chulan Penang's Lunar New Year Dining Preview

My wife and I were joyful to be invited to preview the dishes that Royale Chulan Penang has prepared for the coming Lunar New Year celebrations. The preview was held at its main dining outlet, Sri Tanjung Cafe. As we walked towards the restaurant, we saw that the whole area has been done up for the celebration. There is even a festive pavilion gaily bedecked.

When we arrived, the restaurant team was still busy putting the final touches to the dishes. It was all well arranged, and every dish was meticulously labelled in English and Mandarin - the only hotel that we have come across to offer bilingual labels.

We had a wonderful time taking photos and afterwards joining in tossing the Yee Sang led by Royal Chulan Penang's General Manager, Mr Philip Theseira. And if that's not all, at the conclusion of the dinner, the hotel has so thoughtfully arranged a parting gift for each of us in the form of a Chinese New Year orange cake. It was a wonderful evening.
